Enactment of Information Freedom (Selangor State) 2011 drafted with the objective to enhance the disclosure of information for the public interest and to give every individual the opportunity to access information made by State Government Departments through applications submitted to the relevant Department. This enactment was gazetted on 25 August 2011 and came into force from 5 March 2013 as approved by His Majesty the Sultan of Selangor. Also in force on the same date are two (2) subsidiary laws made by the State Authority to support the provisions of this Enactment, that is the Freedom of Information Regulations (Selangor State) (Access To Information) 2012 and State Information Agency Rules (Selangor State) 2012.
Any members of the public and outside organizations who wish to obtain any information from any State Government Department may do so by complying with the following procedures:-

Fill in and complete the Application Form to Obtain Information as attached below;

Submit an Application Form to Obtain Information that has been completed by hand delivery to the relevant Department together with a payment of RM12.00 (Ringgit Malaysia: Twelve Only) which is RM 2 for the application and RM10 for the non-refundable processing fee deposit;

The Information Officer appointed for each Department (as per the Information Officer List below) will process the application submitted and will provide feedback to the application within 30 days from the date of acknowledgment of application receipt for normal applications or within a period of seven (7) days from the date of acknowledgment of application receipt if the application involves the life or liberty of an individual;
- If the application is approved, the applicant will have to pay the remaining processing fee (if necessary) and will receive access to the requested information according to the appropriate access method; and
- If the application is rejected, the applicant can submit an appeal to the State Information Agency within 21 days from the date of receipt of the decision.
